Stuff that the ancients add in their disaster survival supplies kit

I wonder how many of the ancient people were able to stock on disaster survival supplies, not so many I suppose. As history is the witness most of the ancient people relies on their hunts, fruits and herbs for their daily food. Most of them believed in so many gods and do not want to anger them, since the ancients thought that disasters are brought by the anger of the gods.
